What does a MetaTrader administrator do?
A MetaTrader administrator is responsible for the configuration and day-to-day health of the MT4 or MT5 server platform that a broker’s clients trade on.
A MetaTrader administrator configures and maintains the MT4/MT5 server platform: instruments, groups, swaps, sessions, reports, access permissions, backups, monitoring and incident response.
Core responsibilities
Instrument set-up
Symbols, contract sizes, sessions, margins and swaps.
Account structure
Groups for account types, leverage, commissions and routing.
Routine maintenance
Swap updates, DST changes, rollovers and corporate actions.
Reporting
Daily, evening and monthly reports for risk and finance.
Access management
Manager and administrator permissions and audits.
Platform health
Backups, monitoring, logs and incident response.
Administrator vs dealer vs support
The administrator configures and maintains the platform. The dealer or risk manager watches exposure and client activity. Support helps clients with their accounts. In small brokerages one person may cover several roles, which is exactly when an outsourced administrator adds the most value.
